Superior: DRT63ST See-Through Fireplace

One fire shared by two rooms, or by the living room and the patio.

Quick Facts

• Efficiency: 60.9% (AFUE, natural gas)
• Fuel: Natural gas or propane; power-vent models are natural gas only.
• Controls: Full-function remote included, with thermostat and six flame settings.

Who It’s For

A wall between two spaces is a chance to warm both, but most fireplaces only face one way. You need a fire you can see from either side. The Superior DRT63ST is for the home that wants a 40-inch see-through gas fireplace between two rooms, or between a room and an outdoor living space.

What Makes It Special

It is configurable as indoor/indoor or indoor/outdoor; the indoor/outdoor version uses an optional outdoor window kit, tested to a commercial window standard for air, water, and thermal performance.

An aged oak high-density fiber log set sits on a heavy-duty grate, with black reflective porcelain or ceramic fiber liners. Six flame settings give up to a 33% turn-down, and the included remote runs the thermostat and flame.

Electronic ignition with battery backup keeps it running in a power outage. Superior backs it with a 20-year limited warranty.

Possible Downsides

• Indoor/outdoor needs the window kit. The outdoor window kit is a separate purchase.

If you want one fire that two spaces share, the Superior DRT63ST is the right decision. Both sides of the wall get the same fire, and neither feels like the back.

Choose the liner, natural gas or propane, and the light or dark tinted outdoor window kit.
