Who It’s For

Most gas fireplaces come one way: same logs, same flame, same look in every house. When the fireplace wall is the one every seat in the room faces, that isn’t enough. You need a fire that’s designed for the room, not dropped into it. If you’re building or remodeling and want a linear fire you compose yourself—the media in the firebox, the color of the embers, the surround around it—the Napoleon Vector LV38 is that fireplace. A standard unit will keep the room warm; this one decides how the room looks.

What Makes It Special

Start with the firebox: driftwood, oak, or birch logs, a beach fire, woodland or mineral rock media, or a bed of glass, then set the multi-colored LED ember bed and top lights to whatever color suits the evening. MIRRO-FLAME porcelain panels come included and mirror the flames, so the fire reads deeper and fuller than the box it sits in.

Both the remote and the eFIRE Bluetooth app are included, so flame height and ember color adjust from the couch—or from your phone, without getting up. Set the look for a dinner party, then bring it down to a quiet glow when everyone’s gone home.

It warms approximately 750 to 1,500 square feet—a great room and the space beyond it—and the optional Dynamic Heat Control system lowers the wall temperature above the unit so a TV or artwork can hang directly above the fire. The Vector builds into a framed wall, so plan on finish work like tile or stone as part of the job.

Possible Downsides

• The fan kit is optional rather than included. If you want warm air pushed across the room, plan for the add-on.
• Media is a required separate selection. The unit ships without logs or glass; you choose one of the kits to complete the look.
• This is the single-sided model. For a fire visible from two rooms at once, look at the see-through Vector.

If you want the fire to be the first thing people notice when they walk in, the Vector LV38 is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in.
