Hargrove: 30" Kodiak Timbers Double Stack Log Set

Massive timbers logs stacked for a fireplace that dwarfs an ordinary set.

Quick Facts

• Heating Capacity: Designed for ambiance, not as a heat source.
• Fuel: Natural gas or propane, set by the burner.
• Controls: Chosen with the burner: manual safety pilot, on/off or variable-flame remote, or electronic ignition.
• Burner: Hargrove Double Stack burner (sold separately).

Who It’s For

Standard log sets look lost in a big fireplace: a short pile of logs in a wide, deep opening. You want a fire with the size to match the room. The Hargrove Kodiak Timbers Double Stack 30-inch set is for the homeowner with a large, deep wood-burning fireplace who wants a fire that fills it, without splitting and hauling the wood a fire that size takes.

What Makes It Special

The Kodiak Timbers has large ceramic fiber logs that glow with the fire. It is one of Hargrove’s Large Sets, built for larger fireplaces, in refractory material rated for 2000°F with crisp detail.

It sits on Hargrove’s Double Stack burner, a large ember-bed burner combined with an elevated main burner, which gives the flame the depth and height a big fireplace needs.

Hargrove backs the logs with a limited lifetime warranty in the fireplace they were first installed in, the burner and grate for five years, and valves and remotes for two.

Possible Downsides

• It is for ambiance, not heat. The damper stays open while it burns, so most of the warmth goes up the chimney.
• It needs a deep firebox. Double Stack sets need more depth than standard sets; the Kodiak manual lists the minimum fireplace size.
• The burner is sold separately. Plan on the matching Hargrove Double Stack burner.

If your fireplace is big enough that an ordinary set looks small in it, the Hargrove Kodiak Timbers Double Stack 30-inch set is the right decision. The fireplace finally has a fire the size of the room.

Pair it with the matching Hargrove burner and the controls you prefer.
