What Makes It Special

The Kodiak Split has large logs that combine with a massive split front log. It is one of Hargrove’s Large Sets, built for larger fireplaces, in refractory material rated for 2000°F with crisp detail.

This bundle is the whole stack in one order: the 30-inch Kodiak Split Double Stack logs plus the Triple Stack tier that goes behind them. The Double Stack burner pairs a large ember bed with an elevated main burner, and the Triple Stack burner adds a third burner at the back.

Hargrove backs the logs with a limited lifetime warranty in the fireplace they were first installed in, the burner and grate for five years, and valves and remotes for two.

Possible Downsides

• It is for ambiance, not heat. The damper stays open while it burns, so most of the warmth goes up the chimney.
• It needs a deep firebox. Triple Stack sets need more depth than standard sets; the Kodiak manual lists the minimum fireplace size.
