Grand Canyon: Lava Burner Front View GlowFire - 30-inch Logs

Gas logs where the flame comes out of the logs themselves.

Quick Facts

• Heating Capacity: Designed for ambiance, not as a heat source.
• Fuel: Natural gas or propane; order the one you have, because it is not field-convertible.
• Controls: Remote included; choose on and off or a variable flame.
• Logs: 10 pieces, 30″, Arizona Weathered Oak Charred.

Who It’s For

Most gas logs sit on top of a burner, and you can tell: the flame comes up from below and licks around the logs. If you want a gas fire that looks like the wood itself is burning, you need a different design. The Grand Canyon Lava 30-inch GlowFire system is for the homeowner with a fireplace approved for burning wood who wants the most realistic gas log fire Grand Canyon makes.

What Makes It Special

Grand Canyon’s GlowFire logs have the burner tubes built inside the logs. Each log is individually orificed and ported, so the gas flows out of the log and it looks like the log is on fire, because it is. Grand Canyon says it uses less gas for a fuller flame, and that the ceramic refractory logs radiate more warmth into the room than a standard concrete set.

The valve and controls are concealed, and the burner comes with lava rock, black embers, the remote and batteries, and a damper clamp. Choose on-and-off electronic ignition or a variable flame you turn up and down from the remote.

Possible Downsides

• It is for ambiance, not heat. Most of the warmth goes up the chimney.
• It is gas-specific. The burner cannot be converted between natural gas and propane after it ships.

If you want a gas fire where the logs themselves are burning, the Grand Canyon Lava 30-inch GlowFire system is the right decision. Guests stop asking whether it is gas, because they can’t tell.

Choose natural gas or propane, and on-and-off or variable-flame electronic controls.
