Who It’s For

A fireplace usually means a wall, and some rooms don’t have one to give. You need a fire that can stand on its own or hang where you want it. The Amantii The Cube Indoor/Outdoor is for the room, kitchen, or covered patio that wants a compact three-sided fire. Choose it for the look and warmth in the room; it is supplemental heat.

What Makes It Special

The Cube shows its flame through three sides of glass, and it mounts on the wall or sits on a pedestal or leg base.

You choose yellow, orange, or red flames, two flame patterns, three speeds, and canopy and ember-bed lighting. Amantii’s app connects over Wi-Fi, so you can set the flame, the heat, and a schedule from your phone, and the included thermostatic remote does the same from the couch. The heater warms up to 500 square feet, and the flames run with the heat off.

It comes with a ten-piece log set, charcoal fire glass, black and white vermiculite, and the remote. Amantii approves the Cube for a covered outdoor area; the speaker and leg bases are indoor only. Amantii backs it with a two-year warranty.

Possible Downsides

• It is supplemental heat. The heater warms the room you are in, not the whole house; the flames also run with the heat off.
