Who It’s For

A modern room wants a long, clean fire on the wall, and gas would mean a line, a vent, and a permit. You need an electric fire that looks like part of the architecture, not an appliance. The Amantii Symmetry Xtra Tall 74 is for the home, patio, or business that wants a 74-inch Symmetry fire. Choose it for the look and warmth in the room; it is not a whole-house heater.

What Makes It Special

It has a tall viewing area and an extra-deep media tray that holds more decorative media than a standard unit, with no vents or grills on the face. The Symmetry series uses standardized unit sizing, so the opening can be framed at any stage of the build.

You set flame color, brightness, and speed and the ember-bed colors, and canopy lighting can light the media from above. Amantii’s app connects over Wi-Fi, so you can set the flame, the heat, and a schedule from your phone, and the included thermostatic remote does the same from the couch. The heater runs at up to 1,200 watts on high; this size has dual heaters for double the output, and it can be wired for 240 volts for more heat. The flames also run with the heat off.

It comes with the thermostatic remote. Amantii backs it with a two-year warranty. Amantii approves it for outdoor installs when its guidelines are followed.

Possible Downsides

• It is supplemental heat. The heater warms the room you are in, not the whole house; the flames also run with the heat off.
• Full heat needs a 240-volt circuit. On standard power it runs at its regular output.

If you want a tall, full fire for a big room, the Amantii Symmetry Xtra Tall 74 is the right decision. The wall reads as a design choice, and the fire is the reason.
